Week of 9/18-23/2023: Celebrating Our Inner Nobility & the Wonder of Father Sky 09/24/2023
|
September 18, 2023: Finding the Nobility Inside, cont’d In responding to Matthew's book on the Sacred Masculine, a Native American prison chaplain introduced him to the phrase “the nobility inside.” Interestingly, Père Chenu defines spirituality as "our nobility." And Matthew, of course, embraces this concept with the phrase “Original Blessing,” for are not all beings original blessings? After all, we all come from Source! It was Augustine who came up with the concept of original sin in the fourth century, due to his neuroses
about sexuality. But it was never in the Bible. In fact, it is antithetical to Jewish thinking. We only need to look to the first chapter of Genesis to find that God believed all of creation to be good. |

September 19, 2023: Finding the Eagle Inside If we want to
create a better world, then is it not incumbent upon us to show children the goodness, blessing and nobility of oneself in a world of grandeur? Are we not noble like the eagle? Built to soar to the heavens while also staying close to earth? In Ezekiel 17:3, we read “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: A great eagle with powerful wings, long feathers and full plumage of varied colors came to Lebanon.” Eckhart plays with the German words Edler (noble) and Adler (eagle) when he says, “What our
Lord calls a royal person is named by the prophet a large eagle.” September 20, 2023: A Special Invitation to a Celebration of Creation Spirituality We celebrate a very special event. Matthew’s life’s work–all of his Creation Spirituality papers–are being donated to the University of Colorado in Boulder, on September 21st. There, they can be studied for many generations to come. What a monumental task to prepare for this, and what a joyous occasion. We are invited to share in
the festivities either live or online. September 21, 2023: How
Recognizing Our Nobility Empowers Nobility empowers. Original blessing empowers. Knowing you are an image of God empowers. Honor the eagle within, the nobility within. In this way, we will be doing less projecting onto others, less hating. We can cultivate a feeling of nobility inside by connecting to the majesty of Father Sky. |

September 22, 2023: D. H. Lawrence and Scott Sanders on Father Sky D. H. Lawrence thought it was catastrophic the way humanity had become so cut off from the natural world. He said: This is what is the matter with us, we are bleeding at
the roots because we are cut off from the earth and sun and stars, and love is a grinning mockery, because poor blossom, we plucked it from its stem on the tree of life, and expected it to keep on blossoming in our civilized vase on the table. But all this changes as we move beyond a mechanical universe to a living one, where Father Sky is giving birth to a new star every fifteen seconds. How extraordinary! September 23, 2023: Sanders on Connecting to Father Sky and the Holiness of Creation Russell Sanders is one who understands the power of Father Sky. Says he: I climbed out of the car with a greeting on my lips, but the sky hushed me. From the black bowl of space countless fiery lights shone down, each one a sun or a swirl of suns. The whole brilliant host of them enough to strike me dumb. He truly understands the wonder of the universe. That the universe exists at all, that it obeys laws, that those laws have brought forth galaxies and stars and
planets and—on one planet at least—life, and out of life, consciousness, and out of consciousness these words, this breath, is a chain of wonders. I dangle from that chain and hold on tight. |

The Hidden Spirituality of Men: Ten Metaphors to Awaken the Sacred Masculine
To awaken what Fox calls “the sacred masculine,” he unearths ten metaphors, or archetypes, ranging from the Green Man, an ancient pagan symbol of our fundamental
relationship with nature, to the Spiritual Warrior….These timeless archetypes can inspire men to pursue their higher calling to connect to their deepest selves and to reinvent the world. “Every man on this planet should read this book — not to mention every woman who wants to understand the struggles, often unconscious, that shape the men they know.” — Rabbi Michael Lerner, author of The Left Hand of God |
